Last Saturday at The Warfield was one of the greatest concert experiences of my entire life. It was a night of pure, progressive, and amazing music thanks to Sir Fehrplay and Lord Pryda. To be frank, no one does progressive like the Pryda Friends camp. They are just on a completely different level compared to the rest of progressive house artists these days. Unlike my previous Pryda experience at Identity Festival, this was a concert full of fellow Prydateers (Eric’s term). This made the concert that much better because everyone in that room was on cloud nine listening to the amazing tunes Fehrplay and Eric had to offer.
Fehrplay could not have been a more perfect opener for this show. He got the crowd warmed up with selections like Fairfax by Jeremy Olander, Wakanapi by Pryda, and his own Nightride. He did a great job building up the anticipation for Eric with an impeccable track selection. My personal highlight from his set had to be when he dropped Jeremy Olander’s Let Me Feel. I’ve listened to it 50 times since it was released and hearing it live makes it all the more epic. My other highlights were Fehrplay’s remix of Everyday, Incognito, and his newest release I Can’t Stop It.
After Fehrplay worked the crowd into a frenzy, Eric Prydz stepped up to the decks to put us all into body bags. Eric delivered a classic Pryda set with masterful builds and flawless mixing. The 2+ hours felt more like one continuous song rather than separate tracks mixed together, that’s how good this guy is. He kicked things off with his MASSIVE tune Welcome To My House. He followed that up with an ID-ID that has the interwebs buzzing right now. Then came his unreleased Rotunda and another unreleased Pryda track that’s being dubbed Warfield ID. It was quite the pleasure to hear some unreleased stuff from Eric that I had never heard before. Next came Pryda- Glimma, the Eric Prydz Dub Mix of Let Me Feel, and Pryda- Juletider. Check out these two videos that cover this whole selection of tracks.
The second half of his set Eric got deeeeeeeeeeeep. Tracks that stood out during this part of the set included the EPIC mix of Cirez D- Knockout, Pryda- Power Drive, Guy J & Henry Saiz- Meridian (Pryda Remix), and my highlight of the entire night Faithless- Not Going Home (Eric’s Insomnia Bootleg).
Eric played not one, but TWO encores. If the sound engineer didn’t cut his sound he probably would’ve played all night. The first encore was his amazing We Are Mirage mashup and the second encore was his most classic Pryda track, Pjanoo.
Overall, it was an incredible night of music and absolute privilege to see those two masterful producers and DJ’s perform. Eric Prydz is going to be in the states all year so if he comes to a city near you, DO NOT MISS HIM. I’m lucky enough to see Fehrplay again at Vessel in SF next month.
