Yesterday I put together a mix composed of a bunch of songs I love but don’t get the opportunity to play much, simply because of their tempo. I start out at 75 and end up at 125 bpm. Usually I make house mixes, or have a little Trap in there- but there is so much great stuff in between. Definitely an up tempo mix, hope you enjoy!
Two new Trap bangers for you today.
The first is from the Swedish Duo Cazzette. Cazzette has always been in between genres- blurring the lines between house and harder styles, so it is no surprise to me that here they try their hand at Trap. It is a hard song to fuck up, lets be honest. Tim Berg’s Alcoholic has been remixed by almost everyone and as long as you keep the vocal line “Call it what you wanna call it, I’m a fucking alcoholic” the song is gunna go off. This one is no exception, enjoy.
Next up, a Trap mix of the instant classic Who from Plastik Funk and Tujamo. The song gained instant appeal with big name DJs all around the world, putting the song in their sets. This trap mix is good- not beautifully mastered or finalized but it is rocking, there are no doubts about that. Good work Victor Niglio, keep em coming.
The hottest song of the year is out. I’m more excited to bring you this song than any other I’ve blogged about before. Justin Martin is hands down one of my favorite producers of all time. Justin makes everything from deep groovy house to bangin breaks, so it isn’t that surprising he wanted to try his hand in a trap remix. Justin Martin chose well by taking the most recent release from arguably the hottest trap producer in the game, UZ. Justin transforms UZ’s Trap Shit V13 into a house tempo track that still contains everything you look for in a trap banger.
Check out the original and Justin Martin’s remix below:
Got a new trap remix for you today from my absolute favorite trap producer in the game, RL Grime, and his good homie Salva. This duo seems to just massacre remixes together. After producing arguably the best 2012 trap remix, I’m talking of course about Mercy, the dynamic duo is back with another massive track. I heard this one a few months back when RL Grime was in Portland and lost my shit. So excited to share this one with you all.
Afrojack has decided to dabble in the Trap world, making a bootleg of his own classic Bangduck, calling it Bangtrap. He has previously tried his hand in a bit of dubstep- not to my liking personally- but I do love Bangtrap. The original Bangduck is one of my all time Afrojack favorites. While his Trap take on it is repetitive, full of high pitches noises and choppy, it kills. If you don’t like that style, you probably don’t like Afrojack anyway.
Without further adieu: Bangtrap.
Flosstradamus is back with a big new tune. Look at the Sky is a dark, deep, more mellow kind of trap song that still brings huge bass and crashing drum lines. This type of Trap is gaining a lot of momentum amongst producers recently, it definitely appeals to a lot more moods and situations- not all about the party. I really dig the instrumental version of this song, the beat doesn’t even need rap over it.
The original is dope too- Deniro Farrar does a good job catching the vibe of the track.
Oliver Twizt is back with a huge new trap mix of his single, Let Me See You Do It. Oliver Twizt is best known in my mind for his track Polkadots which Afrojack remixed into one of my favorite songs still to this day.
Lately he has been dabbling in the Trap world, making a remix of Money Makin’ from A-trak & Dillon Francis. Check it out:
I love this new Trap Mix of Let Me See You Do It. I honestly don’t like the original house mix but the Trap tempo serves the song well and gives it exactly what it needs. I look forward to more Trap productions from Mr. Twizt in the future.
2012, Baauer, Bassnectar, Best of 2012, Carnage, Crookers, download, Epic, Flood, Flosstradamus, Harlem Shake, Kanye West, Luminox, Lupe Fiasco, Mercy, Music, Original Don, Remix, RL Grime, Rollup, spaceman, Trap, Trap Music, Trap On Acid, Underground Anthem, VaVa Voom
As you’re all getting ready to bring in 2013 tonight, play these top ten trap songs of 2012 and get the new year started off right. These tracks will have you dancing the year away in no time.
10. Bassnectar- VaVa Voom (Bassnectar Remix) Ft. Lupe Fiasco
Bassnectar loves to remix his owns songs, and I love when he does because we get bangin shit like this. Bassnectar just decided to dabble in some trap style and I’m glad he did.
9. RL Grime- Flood (Original Mix)
RL Grime had a massive 2012. Just for perspective- he visited Portland 8 months ago under his other alias Clockwork and made $500. Last week he came to Portland (at the exact same venue, and red cube promoting both) and made $2,500 as RL Grime. This original production is one of many we’ll be seeing in the near future from this young man.
8. Baauer- Harlem Shake (Original Mix)
Baauer is relatively new to the scene, but emerging quickly as a major player in the trap world. He released this single on Mad Decent and has been opening for big names all year. Look for a lot more from Baauer in 2013.
7. Hardwell – Spaceman (Carnage Remix)
Carnage killed it. He brought more of a bangin sound to trap than any other producer. His Festival Trap Mix Vol 1 was arguably the best trap mix put out this year and it was mostly his own shit. Carnage has long produced Hip Hop and will continue to do so, look for him to blow up on the commercial scene pretty shortly.
6. Flosstradamus – Rollup (Baauer Remix)
When you get Baauer remixing a Flosstradamus track, watch out. Any weed smokers out there will want to snag this one. “Rollup the grass” is chopped up throughout the song and accompanied by some coughing sounds before the bass drops in. Quality stuff.
5. Sandro Silva and Quintino- Epic (Carnage & Luminox Remix)
I had a hard time finding 4 songs better than this one. I loved the original mix of this song last year, and then Carnage and Luminox made it a trap anthem. One of the best builds in trap leads to one of the best drops in trap.
4. Crookers- Original Don (Flosstradamus Remix)
I also loved this original song when it came out. Flosstradamus is the best trap artist out there, hands down. This remix is flawless.
3. RL Grime – Trap on Acid
Hard to call this song an original production, it comes from Afrojack’s Pacha on Acid, which he made into Pop on Acid. I just love this sound and the simplicity that goes with it.
2. Kanye West- Mercy (RL Grime & Salva Remix)
The trap remix of the year without question. Absolutely massive song. I’ve never seen a crowd anticipate a single trap song like this before. But at RL Grime last week the crowd was waiting for it all night. Pretty hard not to put this as #1.
1. Flosstradamus- Underground Anthem
The Anthem. My favorite song of the year. This guy is untouchable, his sound ranges from dark to dirty and he does it all better then anyone else. Again the simplicity here is a beautiful thing. His smashing high hats, rolling bass lines and chopped up vocals are now the blue print for making a trap banger.
RL Grime aka Clockwork aka Henry Steinway is not so quietly crushing the scene with his massive trap remix of Benny Benassi’s classic track Satisfaction. It is a fresh trap take on what is quite possibly the most remixed song ever.
The Satisfaction remix is dope, no doubt. But I think his remix of Look At Me Now and his original production Flood are honestly better.
The hollow sounding beat RL Grime puts with Look At Me Now just smashes, not to mention he makes the best edit of the song ever by taking fucking Chris Brown’s verse out. Good riddance. A must download- enjoy!
Hey Ma is a timeless classic, Cam’ron and Juelz Santana at their finest. This remix is slowed down, screwed up, whatever you wanna call it. If you have some syrup- this song would make a nice compliment.
RL Grime’s original production Flood is just mean, nasty bass line and just enough of a dope little lyric accompanying trap style high hats. One of my new favorite songs out there- definitely snag this one its a beast.
Carnage is currently my favorite Trap producer, and if you listened to his 45 minute Festival Trap Mix Volume 1, you heard a huge tease at the end where he debuted his new single Bang and then took it away. Well, here it is. Hot off the presses- turn this up and enjoy your weekend. BANG!
Here is another brand new track, Carnage and Luminox remix Epic, the hit from Sandro Silva and Quintino. Just when you thought the build in this song couldn’t get any better….Carnage and Luminox get their hands on it and destroy it. Now this song is truly Epic.
