My apologies for the lack of trance the last couple weeks. Hopefully the tracks tonight will make up for it. I’ll be featuring a couple Anjuna remixes along with some fast-paced Armin and vintage Tiesto.
First up is a brand new remix from Anjunabeats artist Ilan Bluestone. He takes Tritonal’s Bullet That Saved Me for a ride and works magic to the track. I was not the biggest fan of the original version but Ilan’s remix is something that I can definitely get down to. If you’ve been sleeping on Ilan Bluestone it’s time to wake the hell up. This guy is one of the fastest rising trance producers and all of his productions recently have been top notch.
Next is the Mike Koglin remix of Ronski Speed’s Sanity Dub. The original mix was my favorite track off Anjunabeats Vol. 10 and the Mike Koglin mix definitely does the original justice. It’s hard-hitting but keeps the original melody in tact, which I love. You still get that euphoric feeling even as the pace quickens. This is probably one of the better trance remixes I’ve heard so far this year.
Armin van Buuren has been promoting a Who’s Afraid Of 138?! campaign recently that I fully support. Even though Armin ventured into the electro sound somewhat it’s great to see that he still appreciates his roots in the BPM thumpin world of trance. His new album Intense is due out in early May and one of the tracks pays homage to his recent campaign. It’s appropriately titled Who’s Afraid Of 138 and I’m really digging it. I hope we see more of this out of Armin; his sound when he cranks up the speed is like non other.
Throwback Track of the Week:
This week I’ve got Tiesto’s most well known track of all time. Adagio For Strings is an absolute masterpiece. I long for this Tiesto and wish he would start producing trance again. Listening to his old albums and mixes is a real pleasure, and this song signifies the legendary status that he deserves.
