Afrojack has decided to dabble in the Trap world, making a bootleg of his own classic Bangduck, calling it Bangtrap. He has previously tried his hand in a bit of dubstep- not to my liking personally- but I do love Bangtrap. The original Bangduck is one of my all time Afrojack favorites. While his Trap take on it is repetitive, full of high pitches noises and choppy, it kills. If you don’t like that style, you probably don’t like Afrojack anyway.
Michael Woods and Chris Lake recently producer an anthem titled Black Thong, and I love the way it works with the classic from David Guetta and Afrojack Toyfriend.
Merry Christmas from the whole team here at WHYH. Hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends. I saw a few things pop up that sparked my interested today in the music world.
Thomas Gold gave everyone a gift by officially releasing his new single MIAO. You’ll get why he chose the title if you listen to the song for about 3 seconds. Pretty bangin’ shit from Thomas Gold, more known his kind of progressive big room style. He fades back into that with a slow build in the second half of the song, but the first 1:45 sure don’t sound like anything I’ve heard Thomas Gold produce.
One of my favorite DJs in the world, Mr. Nick Van De Wall AKA Afrojack has finally signed up for a SoundCloud. This fucking guy…takes him years to get an official SoundCloud page but he has been streaming himself dicking around on Ustream maybe more than any other artist. You gotta love him. Well, I took a look at his newly minted page today and saw a remix of the biggest song in the world, Psy’s Gangam Style and a remix of what Dancing Astronaut tagged as the #1 song of 2012, Nari & Milani’s Atom. They both kick ass, check em out.
RL Grime aka Clockwork aka Henry Steinway is not so quietly crushing the scene with his massive trap remix of Benny Benassi’s classic track Satisfaction. It is a fresh trap take on what is quite possibly the most remixed song ever.
The Satisfaction remix is dope, no doubt. But I think his remix of Look At Me Now and his original production Flood are honestly better.
The hollow sounding beat RL Grime puts with Look At Me Now just smashes, not to mention he makes the best edit of the song ever by taking fucking Chris Brown’s verse out. Good riddance. A must download- enjoy!
Hey Ma is a timeless classic, Cam’ron and Juelz Santana at their finest. This remix is slowed down, screwed up, whatever you wanna call it. If you have some syrup- this song would make a nice compliment.
RL Grime’s original production Flood is just mean, nasty bass line and just enough of a dope little lyric accompanying trap style high hats. One of my new favorite songs out there- definitely snag this one its a beast.
Couple new tracks that have caught my attention recently for you today.
First a new remix from one of my favorite duo’s in the mix, LA Riots. Had a chance to see these guys live a few months back at a small venue and they ripped it up. Really enjoy their style.
Next here is a new one from the lovely Australian ladies Nervo and Australian producer Hook N Sling. I Love the Nervo twins’ vocals in this one, the track is catchy and upbeat, sure to put a smile on your face.
Preview: Check out Afrojack’s upcoming single, which he hasn’t given a title and is for now calling “Annie’s Theme” because he debuted it on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show. He’s been playing this live for some time now, I heard him play it at Coachella this past year. Can’t wait for the release of this one- this is about as dutchy as house can get.
The build in this song makes you say “wait, this is Afrojack?” and then the drop makes you say, “yep, thats Afrojack.” I already can’t get enough of this one. Enjoy.
Hope you guys enjoy this mix from yours truly, BigBird, as much as I’ve enjoyed working on it. Just a collection of some of my favorite songs from this past year, and a couple newer tracks I couldn’t resist. Don’t hesitate to share any comments, all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Starting off, a brand new collaboration from Diplo and Skrillex. I’m not a huge fan of bro-step or of Skrillex in general, in fact those who know me know that I hate on Skrillex like its my job. However, when he teams up with Diplo to do a Moombahton track- I bite my tounge. Love this one- great sample from DJ Shadow’s Organ Donor, and a nasty drop to top it off.
Next up- the obligatory Dutch House section of all my posts.
Dada Life’s new single, Happy Violence, finally makes me appreciate Chris Brown’s work. Just kidding. Violence is bad, mmmkay? But this track is bad-ass. Go bananas.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. What happens in Chuckie’s studio, leaves quickly and goes right into my eardrums. This song isn’t the most impressive thing I’ve heard come out of said studio, but live, no doubt the crowd goes ape-shit on that drop.
What Happens in Vegas (Club Mix) – Chuckie ft. Gregor Salto
I first heard this remix from Laidback Luke at USC 14 a few months back, I distinctly remember turning to my friend Rich and saying, “what the fuck is this!” as we both shook our faces onto the floor. Rich then heard Kaskade drop it at Identity Festival last week. Banger alert.
Speak Up (Instrumental Mix)- Laidback Luke ft Wynter Gordon
After the high-energy dutch house from Dada Life, Chuckie and Laidback, time for something a little more relaxed to wind down. This fantastic edit of the Nervo twins’ We’re All No One from Steve Aoki, Afrojack and Cheyenne Giles Is anyone else just loving these collabo’s from Aoki and Afrojack? Keep em comin’ gents!
We’re All No One – Nervo (Afrojack, Steve Aoki & Cheyenne Giles Edit)
Oh herrroooo again. Been a while since I’ve had time to make a post. It just wouldn’t be right if my first post back wasn’t purely Dirty Dutch. I just can’t get enough. I’ve got two great new tracks from the Dirty Dutch king himself Chuckie, a “new” track from Afrojack and Steve Aoki, and a new one from David Guetta. Good to be back- hope you enjoy.
Lets start off with this “new” track from Nick Van De Wall and Steve Aoki. The track has been played for about a year and a half and was created a full two years ago. Seems like the song has definitely been touched up. This one is an instant classic, just like it was two years ago…
This next tune from Guetta is actually new, and its a killer. Haven’t heard something this dirty outa David maybe ever. Love it. Call him what you will, the guy is a damn genius.
All hail the king. Chuckie has been absolutely killing it lately. These next two tracks are quite different. The first, Bad Dog is dirty- dirty dutch. And I don’t mean the synths or the baselines, listen to the lyrics and you’ll know what I mean. The next is just a massive song, I would love to hear this live, big room music right here.
Well its monday evening, loving life and every minute of the unemployment train. And the cute cat is in honor of my recent purchase of new glasses…. no not sunglasses, I officially need glasses now. Happy Birthday to our wonderful friend and logo designer Brooke, I will be seeing you at Malones shortly.
Any who, onto some music. Here is a new track from Wolfgang Gartners new album, it should be dropping any day.
Can Nick van de Wall do anything wrong? Everything he has touched in the past year and a half has been pure gold. And this track is nothing short of that. It has been on repeat in my car the past week and a half. The drop is unreal, Afrojack goes so hard on this track. If only I could find away to see him live again.
